Our Journey Started with a Simple Question
Why do so many people struggle with budget forecasting when the tools and knowledge exist to make it straightforward? Founded in 2019 in Leicester, AtHint emerged from our founder's personal experience of watching small businesses fail due to poor financial planning.
What began as weekend workshops in local community centers has grown into a comprehensive platform serving individuals and businesses across the UK. We've learned that financial literacy isn't about complex formulas — it's about building confidence in your financial decisions.
Our Mission
We're here to demystify budget forecasting and make financial planning accessible to everyone. Too many people think they need advanced degrees to understand their money — that's simply not true.
Our approach focuses on practical, real-world scenarios. We teach budgeting through actual case studies, not theoretical examples that don't reflect daily financial challenges.
- Clear, jargon-free financial education
- Practical tools that work in real situations
- Support that goes beyond just software
- Community-driven learning experiences
What Drives Us Forward
Picture a world where financial stress doesn't keep people awake at night. Where small business owners can forecast their cash flow with confidence. Where families plan vacations without worrying about hidden costs derailing their budgets.
That's the future we're building. Not through complicated software that requires training manuals, but through intuitive tools that feel natural to use. We believe financial planning should be as straightforward as checking the weather forecast.
By 2030, we want AtHint to be the first resource people think of when they need to understand their financial future — whether that's next month's expenses or next decade's retirement planning.
Meet Our Leadership

James Richardson
Founder & CEO
James started AtHint after watching his family's catering business struggle during the 2008 recession. Despite having good products and loyal customers, poor cash flow forecasting nearly closed their doors. That experience taught him that financial literacy isn't optional — it's survival.
Before founding AtHint, James spent eight years as a financial advisor, but grew frustrated with industry jargon that confused rather than clarified. He holds certifications in financial planning and adult education, which shaped our teaching methodology of breaking complex concepts into digestible, actionable steps.
